//Slip On Skater Shoes have taken over//
As well as the traditional pool slider, slip on trainers have made a big comeback this year and are everywhere at the moment. If like me you are a bit of a skate rat at heart, then you’ve maybe been rocking your Vans slip ons for years but it’s nice to have a more chic version of this Cali classic.
I picked up some Tiki 2 High Vamp Skaters from Topshop the other week on my way to work as I have my long awaited holiday in the sun next month and needed some decent summery shoes. Since I’ll be doing a lot of walking for my 4 day trip I knew it’d be best to get some trainers. Now, I’m the queen of casual, I have plenty trainers but I was looking for a nice chic alternative and knew these would work with some of the outfits I have planned. I love the mock croc upper making it look that bit more luxe.
Online they state the colour as white but they are definitely more of an off white as you can see in comparison to the white elastic inserts. This works for me as they aren’t as blinding and still look box fresh after a few outings.
Online reviews state a few people with blistered feet but many have persisted and state they do soften up and just need to be worn in. I’ve been wearing mine round the house with socks on to soften up the heel and widen them slightly for a better fit.
For £20 I don’t think there is much to moan about and I find them pretty comfortable and solid for such a reasonable price. I just need to dodge any dirt or watch my dog doesn’t drag me round the park in them in the meantime. Let’s hope I can keep them clean till July!
//Spell & The Gypsy Collective//
When it comes to fashion my roots lie in good old fashion rock and roll, from pre teen I’ve dressed alternative in some way whether it be a rockabilly inspired belted pencil skirt and tucked in band tee or studded side slit punk tees or pvc skirts and fishnet dresses, I think I’ll always be an alternative little creep, I like it that way :)
Summer is a time to have fun with another rock inspired look taking it back to the old school and going all out hippy Woodstock bohemian rock! Get some Grateful Dead chapped on and get snapping up some of my favourite brand of the moment, Spell & The Gypsy Collective.
Firstly, what a badass name! An Australia based brand so shipping and import tax won’t come cheap for us Brits but one look at their online store will have you weak at the knees.
From native inspired prints to floral bell bottoms to grungey sleeveless tees, these guys made a big impact on Coachella this year and it’s easy to see why. Even my girl crush Vanessa Hudgens was snapped wearing the red playsuit pictured above, which I know need to stalk her and steal it from her body, obvz.
//Modern Art Isn’t All Used Tampons and Paint Sploged Canvas//
I feel every time I hear the words ‘Modern Art’ I gag a little, imagining a scruffy idiot smelling like a bin but wearing mummy’s vintage Gucci brogues all in the name of abiding the cliche art student uniform whilst trying to ‘find themself’ by collecting their armpit hairs in jars to display while mummy and daddy write fat cheques for over the top tuition fees. Anyone else?!
I can’t help it. I find the thought of calling a piece of rubbish art, all a bit pretentious and the complete enthusiasm for it a little like a platform to appear very grandeur.
I spoke to a friend about this very recently who changed my perception slightly. Yes a bit of crap on the floor could be described as a masterpiece but it’s all about perception and the idea to find something that strikes you!
I’ve slowly been developing a love for some of the more modern artists and found Chilean artist Jose Romussi to be a firm favourite. I’d seen some of the above images on Tumblr and tracked them down to the original artists personal Tumblr where there was a huge array of these.
Jose Romussi takes old photographs and editorial shots and uses them as a base for his embroidery to enhance and add depth and movement. Not only am I in love with these and would love them adorning the walls of my house, they are completely inspiring and I’d love to try it myself.
Check out Jose Romussis Tumblr and say yes to modern art!

//Long live The King!//
Those 4 dreaded words uttered by Scar as Simba’s life shatters around him, quite possibly the most heart shattering thing I experienced as a child… * hysterical crying ensues*.
It’s still all too much to talk about even 20 years on, yep 20 years can you believe it! On June 15th Disney celebrates 20 years of one of its legendary classics The Lion King and what better way than to indulge yourself in some new jewels. Celebrate in style with The Lion King pieces from Disney Couture available in gold plated and now luxe platinum plated.
I don’t think many of us will get over the death of Mufasa, ever, but shopping certainly does ease the pain a little for now. It means no worries.

//Chromat - S/S 2014 Mathletes Collection//
I’ve been a huge fan of Chromat designer Becca McCharen’s work from the early days of her online store opening and have followed the brand and watched it grow. Hand crafted in NYC, the brand describes itself as ‘Structual experiments for the human body’ which is right on the mark. Designer Becca combines her love of fashion, Urban design and back ground in architecture to design and create these wearable prices of art. Looking so fly comes at a price but with any ornate couture piece, these are worth the price tag.
The new summer collection deemed ‘Mathletes’ is ‘Inspired by competitive mathematics, team uniform, sports jerseys and the athleticism and intellectual mastery of NASA Astronauts’.
With a great mix of rigid textures like perforated mesh, cage bandage wrap and hand tooled steel the concept really shines through. The 2 piece pictured last is a dream, someone gonna invite me somewhere awesome to wear this… Oh and buy me it too? K, thnx by.

I’ve always been interested in interior design, I think it just comes hand in hand with being a creative type and loving fashion… I want to style my house just like a style myself but as with my own outfit choices I’m very picky and don’t like to stick to the norm.
I tend not to shop in the usual Primark, Ikea, Urban Outfitters, etc for homeware but do nip in to pick up the boring basics like pillows and towels and tea lights. Sacred Stitches is a great little online store with some great traditional tattoo inspired homeware, prints and clothing.
Since buying our house it’s great to have the freedom to decorate the way we want but have been moving slowly to get it perfect and these would look fabulous in my newly painted soft grey living room. My fireplace is white so these are a must! I’m not one for fussy shitey looking ornaments so I really go crazy for alternative style homeware that isn’t too over the top.
These candles are handmade from soy meaning they have a longer burning time, are made from a more sustainable resource than paraffin candles and have been known to have a longer burn time.
The type is fully customisable with words of your choice. Perfect!
//It was nice knowing you ankles… You may be about to break//
So here’s me a month before my holidays and I’m treating myself to ridiculous shoes instead of holiday clothes, oops!
Jeffrey Campbell overload on here but I just can’t help myself! Being a US based company I find the rare more hard to get styles all seem to be released on US websites. Don’t get me wrong I’ve bought some from Office before which were amazing but for something totally out there the likes of Solestruck and Karmaloop seem to get the best exclusives. The Stinger leather spikes, pictured above have been so difficult to find at a reasonable price and even when in the sale, the customs and delivery charges were insane due to the size and weight of these.
Ebay is my go to for rare Jeffrey Campbell’s as I am willing to pay a little extra to a UK seller to avoid the rip of US charges. Im also in a group on Facebook to buy and swap rare styles which has very positive reviews! These came brand new still boxed/in their dust bags and were well worth the money. The flatform is over 4 bloody inches which is super scary but in actual fact these come up pretty comfy. As always the inner is all luxurious soft leather and the spikes are killer sharp!
I cannot wait for my health to be 100% and get these out on show 💜💜💜

//Vans x Hello Kitty Summer ‘14 Collection//
I can almost definitely guarantee that I am the biggest Hello Kitty fan you know (I have her bows tattooed on my thumbs for Christ sake, too much?! Haha) so of course I was happy to learn that Vans have teamed up once again for a collaboration with the Kawaii Kitty for the second time to lay out another collection of cute harajuku inspired footwear.
Sadly, I really do think the first collection was much better. The slip ons above are by far my favourite and have been added to my wish list but the rest left me a little…meh. What do you think?
